I certainly know leftists that I can get along with (as you say, so long as we don't talk politics). The people I describe herein are certainly not the *only* leftists I've ever known! (gad)

As for Obama -- I think a whole lot of people are having their eyes opened in the last few months....

The problem is, as Jack Nicholson said, some people "can't handle the truth."

Look at the Code Pink people now. When they turned up to protest AIG it was my first clue since the election that any of them were still alive.

The leftist Antiwar movement still screams about "horrible" Bush and a "debacle" in Iraq, even though Iraq is better off now, the surge that John McCain (!!!!!) risked antagonizing both Rumsfeld and the Democrats to push through worked beautifully, and in fact Obama wants to use the same tactics that he says openly have worked in Iraq (Now that the election is over) in Afghanistan.

Yet none of them say peep one about Obama and the Dems keeping troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. None say peep one about it. They protest "AIG" of all things on a cue, but question nothing from the Dems who said in 2006 and 2008 they would end the war if they won, won elections and kept the war going. This is the biggest red flag on the left. Where is Cindy Sheehan? Has she said word one? If she has, has it been printed anywhere?

The Antiwar crowd have been used horribly by the Democrats and I am still waiting for any of them to wake up. The seem to keep themselves in their own ignorance and Obama's policies, and the progress in Iraq, and indeed the march of history itself, passes them by.

I'm sorry you met two people like that. I have liberal friends and we can deal as long as we don't talk politics. I wish you met more liberals like that. But there are types like that out there.
