The system previously used <code>$_SERVER['SERVER_NAME']</code> instead of <code>$_SERVER['HTTP_HOST']</code>, but it was swapped during testing and never changed back. The vhost where Wordpress reside shouldn't be your main vhost and it can not be wildcarded - it shouldn't respond to anysubdomain.yourdomain.com or even worse, any request made to your ip address.
